How to Install Android 4.0 IceCream Sandwich (ICS) on Nokia N9 - Video tutorial

The NITRoid project to work Android ICS on Nokia N9 Hardware and dual boot with MeeGo Harmatton is now at the alpha stage and it is available for download and testing it on your Nokia N9. Please note that its only for advanced users and it will also void your Nokia n9's warrenty.

Below are things which are working with this alpha release of NITRoid for Nokia n9:

- dualboot kernel (without reflashing), ability to choose OS after power on.
- 3D drivers, OpenGL
- hwrotation (portrait mode only, accelerometer HAL doesn't work)
- touchscreen (multitouch)
- hw buttons (volume, power)
- ECI accessory (headset buttons)
- USB networking
- lcd off in sleep mode
- alarm driver, RTC
- mounting MyDocs as "SDCard" [realized; NOT FIXED, but HACK EXISTS]
- basic video decoding (sw) and playback, youtube (choppy)
- basic CellMo functionality: network registration, USSD, SMS, data (GPRS/EDGE/3G), signaling. Actually, ofono/ofono-ril stack is used: all things that it able to do on the n900.
- bluetooth (scanning, can pair devices. I didn't test deeper).
- charging (note: without any notification in UI)
- sensors: accelerometer
- audio: playback (audio routing to: loudspeaker, headset or earpiece)
- lights HAL (lcd brightness)
- root access (via adb shell; su/Superuser.apk)

There are also many things which are not working with it but Modding community is working hard to bring up a fully working version of Android ICS on N9. If you also want to get android ics with dual boot on your n9 you can try it by following this tutorial.

Palat - Nokia N9 - N950 - Meego Harmattan - Free Game Download

Palat is a traditional falling pieces game.

Your goal is to align pieces so that they form full lines, which then disappear and give you points. Clearing several lines simultaneously increases the earned points.

Panning left/right moves the falling piece, panning up/down rotates it. Touching the screen with two fingers speeds up the falling movement and swiping down in this accelerated state drops the piece.

KMPlayer - Nokia N9 - Meego Harmattan - Free App Download

KMPlayer is a port of the KDE/Qt KMPlayer application. It's an audio/video player frontend that supports various playlists like ASX, m3u, RAM, pls, RSS/Atom podcasts and can even play SMIL files w/ support for RealPix format.

Open links from the internet by long tap on the top-most item. You can also paste a link from the clipboard, e.g. by first long tap on a video link in the browser and choosing copy link location.

Links or files being played end up in the recent list where you can copy them to the favorites list, also by doing a long tap. 

Recommended is to install WorldTV99 too, which is still a great list to kill some hours, though swf links will not work.

Of course the ~/.kmplayer/playlist.xml from the N900 works on this edition too.

The down button in the lower left corner is the download button, e.g. for using kmplayer as a poor man's podcast application.
Tip, use the auto-remove-from-phone options to let kmplayer delete these files once they fall off the recent list.

Currently videos are shown in a second toplevel window. Tapping it shows the usual close, scale and zoom buttons. Closing works too via the task manager or the close button in the main window.

Pausing currently only works by re-tapping the current active item.
From the video view you can also go back to the list view without ending the play back, using the left arrow on-screen key. The video is then still visible as background.

Using TV-out, you can even go to other applications, while the video keeps on playing on the TV set.

Another recommended addition is mplayer. When installed, kmplayer will automatically fall back to mplayer when gstreamer can't play the file. Optional you can force mplayer as player from the menu, e.g. when gstreamer does play but not correctly.
