There are Generally 2 ways to install Applications / Games on Nokia MeeGo - Nokia N9/ N950.
- Installation via File Manager (A Bit Easy)
- Installation via Terminal (Little Complex)
Installation via File Manager (A Bit Easy)
As we already know that Nokia N9 isn't equipped with any file manager app by default, so you would require to follow certain steps below:
Tap “Settings” launcher on your home screen.
1. In the Settings, Go to “Applications”
2. Then choose “Installations”
3. Now turn-on “Allow installations from non-store sources”
4. Click “I agree” to proceed.
Now you are required to download and install file manager below:
QAD File Manager
Send the .deb installation package to your Nokia N9 via PC through USB and open it using the file manager app given above.
Installation via Terminal (Little Complex)
- Enable "Developer Mode" (Settings-Security-developer mode)
- "Installations allow strangers from sources" (not Ovi) activate (Settings-Programs-installations)
- Open Terminal
- ssh root@localhost – enter
- Password: rootme
- dpkg-i filename.deb
Installation Package not Found (A usual error)
If you are facing the above mentioned error while you are installing .deb files, you need to rename them to a shorter name without blank spaces, for example a game renamed like (SmartPhoneCity.in)ANGRY
_BIRDS_Hd_MeeGo 2.4_Game.deb should be renamed to Angry_birds.deb, by this method you will be able to eliminate the "installation package not found" error on Nokia N9 and N950 MeeGo Smart Phones.
