Waterproof smartphones are on their way, and we say it's about time.
Smartphones can be protected from water damage with a clear coating a thousand times thinner than a human hair.

HzO demonstrated its WaterBlock system at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week, hoping handset makers will coat their devices at the production level.
The revolutionary technology gives devices a thin, waterproof nano-coating — from the inside out — that protects the circuitry inside. HzO showcased the system by submerging iPhone and Android devices, showing that both continued to work underwater.
HzO is also quick to point out the safety benefits of WaterBlock, which would allow continued use of a smartphone if a person was unexpectedly submerged in water as a result of a car or boating accident. Typically, electronic devices become useless in such an instance, but WaterBlock may offer the ability to call for help even after a phone is wet.
All inputs are compartmentalized with plugs either sealed off or featuring covers to keep water out.
